COWBOY SPURS & HORSE TACK

Vintage Cowboy Spurs

Howdy, welcome to our store!   We specialize in western cowboy spurs and we carry cowboy gear, horse tack and supplies

Cowboy spurs are purchased for several reasons.  1.Spurs are works of western art, collectible and a good investment.  2.  Western spurs are a tools for anyone who rides a horse.    3.  Cowboy spurs can be used for western decorations in a home or business.   As an investment a set of western spurs can be purchased  and used for all three purposess. Buy a serviceable collectible pair and use them for ranch work, rodeos, trail rides, or horse shows. Then hang them on the wall for a decoration when not in use.  If you take good care of your cowboy spurs, they will last for year and increase in value.

The following is a brief guide to help you in the selecting of western spurs.

1.  As works of western art, cowboy spurs are collectable and can increase in value with age and use.  Western spurs vary widely in design so it is best to collect styles that you like and that carry the mark (engraved or stamped name, initials, symbol or a combination) of the person who made them.  Old unmarked spurs can be very valuable but are not for the novice collector as they are harder to identify.

2.  Are you are purchasing western spurs for everyday ranchwork, horse shows, rodeo work, or just pleasure riding?  There are a lot of decisions to make (i.e., fancy or plain, swing buttons or upturned buttons, large or small rowels, wide bands or narrow bands, shank lengths and shank curve,  heel chains or not, rowel type, etc.). You may find that it necessary to purchase a pair or two of different types and use them  before you can figure out exactly what you like.  You may want to have several pairs for everyday work, show, horse training, and even a different type of spur for each horse that you ride.  Keep in mind that the most  heel bands can be bent slightly inward or outward to make the inside width narrower or wider to fit your size of boot. You may need farrier or blacksmith tools to adjust the heel bands.  The heel depth and width in ladies and youth spurs is smaller than men's spurs.

3.  Buying spurs for home decorations is easy.  Simply buy what you like and what fits into your decorating budget.  Collectable ones are great for decorating because they also increase in value makeing them a great investment.   For those on a limited budget, inexpensive, showy, silver mounted western spurs are availabe at most online auctions and tack stores.

Western spurs can be made by custom makers or found at estate auctions, farm auctions, yard sales, online auctions, antique stores, pawn shops, in saddle and tack shops and of course in this online store.  Always remember to have fun and buy what you like.

Cowboys are a part of America's history and the spirit of America's future.
